Estate inventory North Star will consider

The best fit is a countable group of clean, identifiable merchandise that can move into an existing resale, shelving, and shipping setup. Items do not need to be listed online, but the total asking price must leave room for testing, sorting, research, fees, storage, and resale risk.

Clothing, hats, shoes, and accessories

Modern branded apparel, vintage clothing, workwear, outerwear, sports items, clean hats, wearable shoes, bags, and accessories may qualify. Separate new, excellent, good, and flawed pieces, and include approximate sizes, brands, odor or storage issues, and total quantity.

Select high-end collectibles

Consideration is limited to sturdy, identifiable, higher-value collectibles that are practical to store and ship. Show maker marks, labels, edition or model information, provenance if available, dimensions, and condition. Fragile glass, ceramics, and low-value household décor are outside the buying lane.

Compact tools within a reasonable size

Quality hand tools, compact power tools, and small specialty tools may fit when brands and model numbers are visible and the condition is clear. State whether powered items work and whether batteries, chargers, cases, or parts are included. Oversized shop machines, large cabinets, and heavy industrial equipment are not a fit.

Electronics and video games

Compact electronics, game systems, games, controllers, handhelds, and related accessories may qualify. Include exact model numbers, cords, storage capacity where relevant, account-lock status, testing results, and known defects. Large televisions, CRT displays, incomplete mystery electronics, and unsafe or damaged batteries are not a fit.

What is not accepted

Furniture, mattresses, large appliances, or full-room contents
Oversized machines, large TVs, CRT displays, or freight-sized equipment
Fragile glassware, ceramics, low-value décor, or mixed household leftovers
Trash, donation-only goods, hazardous materials, or pest-, mold-, or smoke-damaged items
Uncounted “take everything” piles without representative photos

Common estate-inventory questions

Do you buy everything left after an estate sale?

No. North Star considers only the qualifying merchandise categories listed above. Furniture, fragile household goods, oversized equipment, and general leftovers should be handled separately.

Can an executor or estate-sale company submit?

Yes. The intake asks for your role, sale timing, location, approximate count, total asking price, condition, and photos. You must be authorized to sell the merchandise.

Do electronics and tools need to be tested?

Tested items are easier to value, but untested items can still be described honestly. Include model numbers, all included parts, and any known problems. Do not claim something works unless it was checked.

Can I use photos from my iPhone?

Yes. The form accepts common phone photos and resizes them before upload. Start with group photos, then add labels, model numbers, accessories, and flaws.
